This is a most interesting and very good example of a genuine 19th century Italian carved, solid Walnut CORNER CHAIR in the baroque manner.
The curved and flat top rail is profusely embellished with fine foliate carvings and a central young Cherub face carved into a shell. The splats on ether side are composed of opposed boldly carved griffins. The seat rails are straight and have a carved and shaped lower edge including swags, and heads above the legs. The top rail supports are turned, carved and upward tapered while the support legs are turned downward tapered and reeded.
Condition: Frame excellent - Seat requires reupholstering to taste.
