This is a beautifully crafted piece of furniture and is of exceptional quality.
it is a genuine antique English 1830 to 1837 William IV period two tier Side Cabinet beautifully made from selected imported prestigious central American Brazilian Rosewood of exceptional figuring and desirable warm honey colour.
The upper Display Cabinet section has a pair of square glazed doors which when opened reveal three full width adjustable height shelves however one can use all three two one or none the interior is polished and has a mirror back so it is known as an illusionest cabinet as with the mirror one can also see displayed items from the rear as well as the front. it can be used for displaying object de art or books. On either side are engaged flat pilasters with well carved decorative French ‘S’ shaped applied scrolls, Above is a three sided spindle gallery with some of the finest turned spindles that I have ever seen.
The lower Storage Cabinet has an upper protruding frieze section with a top concave edge molding and a bold and decorative ‘centurians skirt’. Recessed below are a pair of glazed arched panel doors and on each side are superb free standing opposed full height turned barley twist columns The columns also have intricately carved petal motif capitols and bases. The cupboard has a full width shelf. with an applied edge molding. All supported on a protruding plynth base.
Condition: Near excellent with only minor faults. One lower door has a replaced mirror panel in the door so we may replace the other original piece of mirror as it is foxed and if replaced both doors will look the same. Complete with the original key.
