About this piece
Description: This antique English Mahogany fold-over tea table is a versatile piece of nineteenth-century furniture, traditionally used as a tea table, games table or parlour table. When closed, it presents as an elegant hall or side table, with the top opening and swivelling to create a generous square surface for entertaining or playing games.
The clever swivel and fold-over mechanism is supported by a substantial shaped central pedestal that flows into a heavy quad-lobed platform base resting on turned bun feet. Crafted in solid oak, the table displays attractive timber grain together with the rich patina expected of a well-preserved piece of this age.
Its practical design and timeless appearance make it equally suited to use as a hall table, lamp table, occasional table or traditional tea table.
