About this piece

English George III tilt-top occasional table, late 18th century, crafted in Cuban mahogany. The single-board top (no joins) presents a scalloped, pie-crust edge and tilts on its original mechanism.

The turned column is detailed with ring turning and a lower spiral-reeded, carved urn form. From the upright cylindrical base, three cabriole legs extend in a tripod formation, terminating in snake-head feet. The knees carry raised, stylised shell and foliate carving. Fine workmanship and proportion are evident throughout.

Condition: Excellent for age and professionally refurbished. A very fine crack to the top surface.
