About this piece
English George III drop-side Pembroke table, circa 1800, crafted in Cuban mahogany. The rectangular top presents rounded corners when the leaves are raised and shows a well-figured surface with a multiple reeded edge moulding.
The frieze to one end houses a cock-beaded drawer with a bone diamond keyhole escutcheon and a pair of circular brass drawer pulls; the opposing end mirrors this arrangement as a faux drawer. Vertically reeded panels flank the drawer. Turned and tapered legs, embellished with multiple ring turnings, terminate in their original all-brass castor assemblies. The density of Cuban mahogany gives the table notable weight for its size.
Condition: Very good and all original.
