About this piece
Sourced from Gansu in China's far north west, this old pine trunk is around 180 years old. Trunks like this were used to store bedding, clothing and household goods, and this one is long and low with a simple lift up lid and a gently shaped front panel.
The pine has aged to a pale, sun bleached honey, with knots, cracks and old repairs that tell the story of its working life. At the end of a bed it makes a beautiful blanket box, or use it as a rustic coffee table with plenty of hidden storage underneath.
