About this piece

Sourced from Shanxi, this antique Chinese altar table is around 180 years old. Tables like this once stood against the wall in the main room of the home, holding offerings, incense and ancestral tablets. It's crafted from elm, with a narrow top, a carved apron and slim legs joined by stretchers.

The dark, time worn surface has a beautiful depth to it. Long and narrow, it's ideal for a hallway or behind a sofa, or as an elegant display table in the living or dining room.
