Details
Magnificent 19th century antique bureau plat/writing desk in the style of Boulle. Featuring intricate brass inlay work on a red tortoiseshell ground, with remnants of the old gold gilding on the brass mounts. Fitted with three drawers on one side and resting on four elegant cabriole legs again with brass and tortoiseshell marquetry inlay. Custom Starfire tempered glass top. This desk was found worthy of being restored some time in the past with numerous pieces of the original brass inlay having been replaced. The glass provides a wonderful surface to work on whilst viewing the well patinaed top that only age can provide with verdigris in places and numerous small losses of finish adding to its character.
