A beautiful and authentic Nimipäivä vase designed by Aimo Okkolin for Riihimäen Lasi, Finland, dating to the 1960s.
Renowned for his refined and elegant glass forms, Okkolin created the Nimipäivä series with a graceful silhouette that perfectly captures the understated sophistication of mid-century Scandinavian design. This example is executed in a rich amethyst glass that shifts beautifully between deep plum and translucent violet depending on the light.
The vase features a slender flared neck, gently rounded body and substantial clear glass base, creating a striking balance between delicacy and weight.
An increasingly difficult model to find, particularly in this attractive amethyst colour.
The base bears the Riihimäen Lasi mark and engraved model number.
