About this piece
A Spanish Carved Pine Two-Drawer Table, in the Seventeenth-Century Castilian Manner 19th Century
The thick single-plank rectangular top overhangs a frieze fitted with two drawers. The drawer fronts are carved with raised lozenge panels, centred by a carved rosette block, and the frieze is flanked by corner blocks worked with faceted diamond-point carving. The table stands on four turned columnar legs, chip-carved overall, rising from square diamond-point blocks on bun feet, and the legs are joined by carved side stretchers. The surface has a rich, deeply worn patina.
