About this piece
A Large Italian Carved Giltwood Mirror, in the Seventeenth-Century Manner, 19th Century
The rectangular plate is set within a deep convex frame carved throughout as a continuous spiral rope-twist moulding, a cornice a torciglione. The frame retains areas of its original water gilding over red bole, now attractively worn to reveal the bole and gesso beneath.
