BEAUTIFUL ROUND OR OVAL DINNER TABLE/SUITE
NZ Crafted - (Native Rimu & Walnut Finish)
Beautiful Round/Oval Dining Suite with 6 High-End Matching Gold Velvet Chairs.
This is a stunning, heavy, solid timber suite. It is an exceptionally well-made dining set that beautifully combines timeless European elegance with high-quality New Zealand heritage craftsmanship.
Believed to have been custom-crafted in the 1980's by a boutique cabinetmaker or guild workshop (likely in the Taranaki region), this suite is built to heirloom standards.
No polishing was undertaken to the Table before photos to show exact condition. Obviously, a good French Polisher etc, could work wonders to the already good condition of this table.
The Table:
Classic Louis XV Silhouette featuring a scalloped serpentine apron, a central pedestal column with ornate ‘hand-carved scroll volutes’, and an elegant round finial detail resting on sweeping cabriole legs.
Materials & Construction: The visible show-wood boasts a warm, rich walnut-grain finish. Flipping the table over reveals it's true quality. The structural bones, bearers, and perimeter rim are constructed from solid, heavy New Zealand Native Rimu, complete with authentic hand-written cabinetmaker assembly mark, Number (5).
The table is structurally sound and as shown can convert from a 4 seated Round Dining Table into a 6 seated Oval Dining Table easily.
- (The table pushes together seamlessly into a beautiful, solid round/oval everyday table).
The Chairs:
Total of 6 Elegant matching balloon-back dining chairs featuring carved shell/floral crests and matching cabriole legs with 2 of these Main Chairs featuring supporting Arm Rests.
Upholstered in a gorgeous, plush Gold Velvet with classic diamond-tufting and traditional trim detail.
Condition:
Vintage Wood in fair condition considering age. The timber has a beautiful, smooth patina.
Structurally (4) of the chairs need attention as they are too unsteady to sit on safely.
The two Main Seats featuring the Armrests are structurally sound.
Minor wear and tear on wood finish (as shown), and a small area of restitching needed on one chair’s diamond tufting trim as shown.
