Details
Created by Arthur Imhof SA in La Chaux de Fonds for the Royal Geographical Society, this early edition world clock sits within the original production run crafted before manufacturing was later taken over by the Franklin Mint. Imhof was a respected Swiss maker known for producing precision pieces and special commissions for major European houses. This example carries the hallmarks of that era: brass columns, black timber base, and a finely detailed terrestrial globe printed in gilt.
Designed to translate global timekeeping into a single sculptural instrument, the clock presents with strong presence and a well preserved finish across metal, timber, and globe surfaces. The underside retains the engraved 1979 plate that marks it as one of the first units issued from the initial four year production cycle.
Presents very well throughout. Not tested and buyers should assume a professional service will be required.
