Set of six English George IV dining chairs from the 1820s, crafted in imported Central American mahogany. The shaped balloon backs carry triple-arched top rails with bold Egyptianesque carving, above straight, crisply profiled seat rails.
Front legs are turned, tapered and strongly reeded, with a foliate-carved ring turning at the shoulder, terminating in original all‑brass castors. Seats are upholstered in a woven horsehair fabric—a black horsehair weft with a red cotton warp—produced in very small quantities on original 18th‑century hand‑operated looms in the U.K.
Condition: Frames structurally excellent with very good colour; upholstery in very good order.
