The French government promoted a nationwide lottery for many years and, during the 1930s, commissioned artist Edgar Derouet to produce many of its posters. Derouet worked either independently or with collaborators; this poster is the result of his collaboration with Charles Lesacq, who worked with Derouet from 1938 to 1940.
