Late 19th-century French jewellery or trinket box of rectangular form with canted corners, veneered in amboyna. The lid is edged with a kingwood border and ebony outer stringing; the canted corners are also finished in kingwood. A central rectangular amboyna panel frames a shaped medallion inlaid with ebony, brass, mother-of-pearl and kingwood.
Condition: Exterior excellent. Interior in good, original condition; may be improved by relining with fabric or polished timber panels. A full-size lift-out tray can also be made and fitted for additional functionality.
