Details

This is the trophy presented to the owner of the winning boat of the IOR Maxi division of the 1984 Sydney to Hobart yacht race, which was the yacht "New Zealand". I have confirmed this with the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia. The trophy is a spirit tureen, where the food in the glass bowl is kept warm by heat from a flame burning in the lidded spirit bowl in the base of the silver plated frame. It stands 300 mm high to the top of the lid's handle, and has a diameter of 258 mm. It is in very good condition, but one of the feet has been broken and glued back on.
