Details
This ceramic handled pitcher vase was produced by KMK (Keramik Manufactur Kupfermühle). The KMK factory was established in an old ammunition's factory following the war. Production was prolific up until its closure in 1997, yet pieces are gaining interest with West German Pottery collectors for their intricate and fascinating designs. All designs were all applied by hand by a crew of resident artists that would brush the glaze onto each ceramic as it journeyed back and forth from the kiln.
This large round handled pitcher is form 517 decorated in a variation of the Viola Decor Series (Kollektion 21000). First launched in 1968, this design has become one of KMK's most sought after designs. It features an appealing brushed base satin glaze of dual toned blues (navy and cobalt) with a hand painted banding of violet swirls and yellow paint brush strokes that encircle the upper shoulder of the vase.
This piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or damage.
