This piece portrays a simple village street scene, characterised by minimalist lines and gentle watercolour washes. The artwork has been newly framed in black timber with an oak-coloured insert. Aldo Riso, a twentieth-century painter born in Santa Maria di Leuca, Lecce Province, is known for his evocative use of colour and form.
He held his first exhibition in 1956, marking the beginning of a successful career in the arts. His remarkable artistic imagination earned him significant market success, allowing him to showcase his works in Italy, Germany, Austria, France, Greece, Serbia, Canada, the United States, Mexico, Argentina and South Africa.
