A beautiful pair of vintage French Louis XV style bergère armchairs, featuring carved giltwood frames with wraparound cane backs and sides. The shaped frames feature floral carved detailing to the crest and seat rail, sweeping arms and cabriole legs terminating in scroll feet. The natural cane creates a lovely contrast against the aged gilt finish, while each chair retains its upholstered ivory coloured fixed seat and generously proportioned loose seat cushion. The cane is in good order. Wear consistent with age and use, including rubbing, marks and losses to the gilt finish. The upholstery and loose cushions show visible marks, staining and general wear throughout, as pictured. The condition of the existing fabric has been reflected in the price.
