  This is a most excellent example of a top quality American vintage replica antique Georgian later 1700s style two height bookcase made in the earlier 1900s probably during the ‘golden’ era of Hollywood between the wars.

  This piece is beautifully crafted in the typical mid to later 1700s classical Georgian style then embellished with decorative detail in the ‘Adamesque’ neoclassical manner of the renowned furniture designer Robert Adam who drew his inspiration from the classical art and culture of ancient Greece and Rome.

  This is not just a typical book case as it has additional specialised open display sections to either side of the centre book case.

  The top break front cabinet has a dentil freeze and a pair of glazed doors with adjustable shelves within and each door has astragal glazing with 18 panes of glass per door. On either side are full height display sections each with adjustable shelves, curved back panels and folate carved embellished semi domed arched tops.

  The base section has a frieze section with a central rectangular panel with a central classic urn and opposed carved leaves in the form of French ‘S’ shaped scrolls. Below are a pair of ‘blind’ recessed paneled doors beneath the upper display doors and these doors are decoratively embellished with typical Adam classical bows ribbons swags and garlands plus a Wedgwood Jasper Ware style plaque in the centre of the door panels. Once again there are full height open display sections to compliment the top cabinet and the whole is supported on a plynth base.

  The interior and open display sections currently are lined in a yellow silk like fabric which may be easily changed to taste. Typical of the quality the adjustable shelves all sit on recessed brass circular discs with brass dowels.

  Condition: Excellent commensurate with age and use.

  Size: Width 185cm x Depth 35cm x Height 235cm.

  Price: It should be more expensive however now only $3,985.

  Sellers Observation: Not yet antique but well on the way. A genuine period piece like this would cost a Kings Ransom so this is the ‘look’ at a great price.

  Photographed in as it arrived condition so it will detail and wax up nicely.
