About this piece
Original Figurative Oil Painting
Signed R. Walter
Late 20th century
Oil on board, framed
61 × 41 cm
A richly worked figurative oil depicting a veiled figure, rendered in a restrained palette of earthen red, ochre, cream and black.
Paint has been applied generously with pronounced palette knife work, giving the surface an almost sculptural quality. The simplified composition and strong tonal contrast lend the portrait a quiet, graphic presence.
Signed R. Walter lower right and presented in its original style timber frame.
