A beautiful pair of Louis XV style fauteuil armchairs, with elegant cabriole legs, carved floral cresting and scrolling arms. Finished in distressed giltwood and upholstered in a green damask-style fabric with an ornate woven pattern. Their generous proportions and comfortable seating make them ideal as occasional chairs in a sitting room, library, bedroom or entrance hall. The aged gilt finish has developed a wonderfully timeworn character, revealing layers of earlier finishes beneath. The upholstery presents well overall. The frames exhibit noticeable flaking and losses to the gilt finish, together with age-related wear, marks and minor imperfections consistent with use.
