An elegant pair of early 20th century Louis XVI style occasional tables featuring circular marble tops set within a polished timber frame. The marble displays beautiful natural veining and warm tonal variation, each top slightly unique in pattern and character. The bases are crafted from richly toned timber with slender tapering legs finished with brass sabots. Delicate gilt mounts decorate the frieze while a shaped cross stretcher unites the legs and adds both stability and visual interest to the base. The marble tops sits atop the timber frames in the traditional manner, secured beneath with locating blocks, a construction method commonly seen in European furniture from the early 20th century. The proportions make them ideal as lamp tables, bedside tables or placed either side of a sofa. There is visible wear consistent with age and use. One leg shows noticeable finish wear and the marble edges display minor marks and small imperfections, all of which are reflected in the photographs. Despite this they remain sturdy and present beautifully. Sold as a pair.
