This Lowestoft porcelain tea bowl and saucer is decorated with hand painted sprays of flowers, with the rim featuring a simple edge pattern in iron red. The pattern is illustrated in Plate 29A as item 160, in the catalogue "Lowestoft Porcelain in Norwich Castle Museum Vol 2 Polychrome". On the base of each piece is a small hand written label with details on the piece, but I haven't been able to confirm if they were painted by Rose, as stated. On the base of the saucer is what is probably a catalogue number from a previous owners collection. The saucer has a diameter of 127 mm (5 inches) and stands 28 mm (1 inch) high. The bowl stands 42 mm (1.5 inches) high with a diameter of 75 mm (3 inches). Both pieces are in very good condition with only some tiny nibbles to the rims to detract from them. It would date from the period 1756-1800.
