Alan Sorrel (1904-1974) was a painter, illustrator and lithographer. He painted a number of murals, worked as a war artist for the RAF during WWII, and taught at the Royal College of Art from 1931 - 48. Today his work is held by the Imperial War Museum, Tate Gallery and the Museum of London.
Commissioned by London Transport, this poster is advertising train travel Garrick's Temple to Shakespeare, a small garden pavilion built in 1756 on the River Thames in Hampton.
