About this piece
An exceptional Ming Dynasty Cizhou ceramic planter, hand-painted with rich cobalt blue florals on a luminous white ground. Originally a pickling jar, this oversized ovoid vessel commands sculptural presence through its irregular surface and subtle ridged detailing.
The generous opening accommodates substantial plantings, while its robust form suits interior display or sheltered outdoor settings. Patina and glaze variations speak to centuries of provenance.
50 × 37 cm. One-of-a-kind.
