Many Letterman pieces were manufactured using a silkscreen-like process in the Far East (China or perhaps the Philippines) during the 1970s and retailed through JC Penney stores in the U.S. There is no single Letterman artist; authorship was not acknowledged, with imagery created by company employees whose work became company property.
