About this piece
This large hand painted porcelain fish platter was made by the Fraureuth factory of Saxony in Germany. They were producers of a range of very good quality items. It is decorated with their Dresden pattern, which consists of several hand painted sprays of flowers, together with smaller scattered flowers and insects and complimented with gilt highlights. Today it could be used for sandwiches, cakes and the like, or purely for its decorative effect. It measures 665 mm (25.5 inches) in length, 266 mm (10.5 inches) in width and stands 56 mm (2.25 inches) high. It weighs 3.2 kgs (7 lbs). It is in very good condition and would date from around 1930.
