Details
The Lapid factory opened in 1943 and predominantly manufactured tiles and sanitary ware.
In 1949 Lapid opened its art department creating decorative tableware, which it would become famous for.
If you turn a Lapid piece over you can see the signature of the artist, and almost all painters were women. Most of its designs were inspired by Scandinavian pottery along with local influences such as archeology and desert colours. This aesthetic made them very collectable Mid Century pieces.
This piece stands at 10.5cm tall and features a pattern of interlocking circles. It is signed by the artist “Batia”.
