This glorious mid century retro coffee table is a rare find, being conceived and hand-crafted by celebrated Melbourne based furniture designer Jacob Rudowski, circa 1966.
Arriving in Australia in 1960 and settling in St Kilda, Rudowski enjoyed a loyal clientele of modernist designers and architects. To this day, his pieces are highly sought after and collectable.
This piece features his unmistakable artisanship and design acumen, best displayed in the intricate and elegant trimming and the shapely legs. He employs a combination of both straight and curved lines - from the linked rectangular boxes on which the tabletop is perched, to the beautifully rounded wishbone legs.
This particular piece is composed of Queensland walnut veneer top and solid Blackwood legs, first class materials which stand the test of time.
It is in terrific vintage condition, with only very minor signs of wear.

I am sad to part with this beauty, but family life just isn’t conducive to keeping furniture like this in pristine condition.
