Hornsea Pottery ‘Saffron’ designed sugar canister by John Clappison

Hornsea ‘Saffron’ was a popular range from Hornsea designed by John Clappison. Introduced three years after Heirloom, in 1970, it had the perfect colourway for the decade of orange and dusky brown.

Look carefully at the design and you will see it is made up of a myriad of tiny daisies.

This sugar canister presents beautifully and has no chips or cracks. There is some slight crazing on the collar of the canister.

The wooden lid is in good condition, but the seal will need replacing.

This particular canister stands at 15cm tall.
