Details

The original US design by Charles & Ray Eames of this iconic chair dates back to the 1950s. These examples were made in the US in the early 1990s and are testament to the their durable and reliable construction. The full Herman Miller branding is stamped into the aluminium frame on the underside of each chair. Still selling new today, an equivalent example would set you back over $2,000. Sitting on an 5 pronged aluminium bases, these fixed height, swivel chairs would suit use as a home-office work chair, meeting chair or dining chair. At the time of listing I have a dozen of these chairs and in another listing a smaller quantity but without arms. (Plus access to more armless ones in Melbourne) The chairs in this listing are on 'slides' that move easily across most surfaces and of course felt pads can be added to make movement even easier. The material is heavy duty black vinyl - often mistaken for leather - and the metal structural frame is commercial grade aluminium. Often on these chairs, the aluminium arms attract scratches from watches, bracelets and desktops and the corners of the vinyl can get small divots. Happily these have escaped lightly with only small signs of use here and there. Where feasible, I will touch these up prior to handover. I have tried to capture sample blemishes on the random pair I chose for photography
