Substantial and deeply carved, this French oak sideboard commands attention with the quiet authority of something built to last a century — and has.
Flanking cabinet doors bear bold concentric medallions turned from solid oak, their concentric rings a geometric nod to the Art Deco moment caught between ornament and modernity. The centre opens to four drawers fitted with original drop-ring iron pulls, each pull dark with age against the warm, honeyed grain of the oak.
Escutcheon plates in wrought iron punctuate the doors with decorative weight. Below, four sculptural trumpet feet — fluted and wide-based — elevate the whole piece with a sense of ceremony, connected by a continuous base rail that gives the silhouette its grounded, monumental presence.
A small raised platform crowns the top, original or sympathetic addition, either way at home.
