A stunning mid-century industrial glass and chrome cabinet, perfect for displaying prized personal items at home, products on a shop counter or keeping essential equipment clean and protected (e.g. barbers, tattooists).
Made by or for the Australian Department of Supply (1950 - 1974). The main function of the Department was "to support Australia's navy, Army and Air Force in defense production, research and development, purchasing, transport and storage". With 22,000 employees it was one of Australia's largest Federal departments. A Department that was involved in just about everything, from rocket testing in the Woomera, the delivery of Mirage fighter jets, to camouflage paint. The cabinet most likely came from one of their labs or production centers, making it part of Australia's military / industrial history, as well as a highly functional and aesthetically pleasing piece.

Condition
The cabinet is in close to perfect condition, with a some minor wear in alignment with its age and use. We re-felted the doors to ensure a smooth closing and keeping with its original purpose.
