Details
This is a hand coloured woodblock print titled 'Moving On' by Basia Smolnicki, signed and dated 1987 in the lower right corner, edition VI of X.
Smolnicki is a Wellington-based printmaker who trained at Wellington Polytechnic and later completed a postgraduate diploma in printmaking at Camberwell School of Art in London. Her work draws on Polish folk art, a nod to her heritage, layered with New Zealand imagery and colour, and this piece is a good example of the graphic, high-contrast style she's known for. A near-identical work from the same edition run, dated the same year, has a documented sale history through the Australian Art Sales Digest, which places this piece within a genuine, catalogued body of work rather than an unrecorded one-off.
The print is presented framed and in good condition.
Dimensions are 80 x 67cm, framed.
