This well made cedar ballot box is unusual in that the lid is hinged to the smaller side of the body. It has retained its original rich patina and is in very good condition. It does have a rather worn opening on one side where the lid meets the body as shown in the photo. Apparently there were traces of sealing wax near this opening, so maybe it was used some sort of seal. It stands 158 mm high, is 255 mm wide and165 mm deep. C 1860.
