Design & Features
Organic Frame: Crafted from solid teak, the chair features Vodder's signature fluid lines, particularly in the elegantly sculpted, "bladed" armrests and the open-slat backrest.
Reclining Mechanism: The chair is renowned for its versatile seating. The backrest and seat can be adjusted into three distinct positions, ranging from an upright reading posture to a deep, relaxed lounge.
The Designer: Arne Vodder (1926–2009) was a protégé of the legendary Finn Juhl. His work is characterized by a "natural" aesthetic that avoids sharp angles. His designs gained such international prestige that they were used by President Jimmy Carter in the White House and in the United Nations Office in Geneva.
The Manufacturer: The FD-164 was produced by France & Søn (originally France & Daverkosen), the premier Danish manufacturer responsible for industrializing high-end furniture production.
