Description: Dating to circa 1880, this antique French giltwood console table features a distinctive D-end form, allowing it to sit elegantly against a wall as a traditional console or be displayed free-standing within a room.
The shaped marble insert is particularly striking, displaying natural veining in tones of white, grey and green that beautifully complement the warm giltwood frame. Below, a finely carved apron is supported by four tapering fluted legs united by an elegantly carved curved stretcher, creating a balanced and refined silhouette.
The versatile proportions make this table equally suitable for use in an entrance hall, living room, dining room or beneath a mirror, while the quality carving and marble top exemplify the decorative French furniture of the late nineteenth century.
