About this piece
An ornate Italian Florentine style two door cabinet, featuring a shaped timber top, decorative gilt detailing and an aged ivory painted finish. The cabinet is richly decorated with scrolling foliate motifs across the top, front doors and side panels, framed by intricate gilt borders and repeating ornamental patterns. The softly curved front and shaped apron are supported by four cabriole legs with gilt highlights. Influenced by traditional Florentine decorative furniture, the cabinet combines the elaborate ornamentation of Italian Renaissance inspired painted furniture with the graceful curves of the Rococo style. Two hinged doors open to reveal a spacious single storage compartment with a contrasting golden yellow painted interior. The cabinet retains its decorative metal lock plate and accompanying key. An appealing piece for an entrance hall, bedroom or living room, offering practical storage beneath its generously proportioned decorative top. Antique condition with wear consistent with age and use, including rubbing, surface marks, losses to the painted and gilt finish and areas of discolouration.
