This is a very good example of a genuine antique English Mid Victorian period circa 1850 Walnut Canterbury which was used for housing sheet music however these days are frequently used for magazines.
The quality of this Canterbury is reflected in the fact that it has four shaped and labouresly saw pierced diveder panels. In lesser examples often only the front and back panels are saw pierced.
There is a full width flush fitting frieze section drawer with nicely detailed turned timber drawer pull knobs to the front while the back panel is ‘finished’ however plain.
The whole stands on short turned and tapered legs terminating in original brass bucket and white porcelain castor assemblies.
