This is a most attractive circular Centre or Occasional table Made in the mid 1800s English Victorian period, The rosewood was ( and still is ) a highly prized prestigious timber imported from the Central Americas and Brazil. Originally popular for its dark colour it is now very popular due to the red pigment fading leaving a lovely honey colour with seemingly abstract dark figuring.
The table features a central circular Ebonised panel with exquisite parquetry floral inlays which is repeated in an outer complimentary banding with slightly more stylised flowing flowers folage, shell and horn of plenty inlays. The recessed apron is vertical however undulating at the bottom and features well turned inverted finials at the most shallow points. The support structure is most interesting as the top section is a bold barley twist column which rises from a small quadruped platform base which in turn is supported by four finer barley twist columns which in turn rise from a larger complimentary shaped flat quadruped base with four flattened bun feet which still retain the original all brass castor assemblies beneath. Additional decorative embellishments include the raised turned patera above the bum feet and the turned finials above the four lower barley twist supports.

Condition: The table currently is in untouched original aged condition and has a shrinkage gap on the top which is not unusual for old furniture as timber shrinks cross wise and not length wise. Fortunately it is a standard procedure procedure for a professional restorer to rectify and the whole would benefit from a clean up and a general refurbishment.
