Description: This lovely little antique English oak cabinet has a wonderful surprise hidden within its seemingly simple design — a secret compartment for keeping special treasures tucked away and completely out of sight. Unless you knew the compartment was there, you would be unlikely to realise it existed, which gives this piece a little extra character and intrigue.
Made from oak with a rich, dark finish, the cabinet has a shaped gallery back and sides above a generous open shelf. The gently curved sides and shaped top give it an attractive silhouette, while the scalloped detail beneath the main surface adds a decorative touch.
Slender turned legs lead down to a useful lower shelf, providing additional space for books or other pieces. The beautiful grain of the oak remains visible throughout, giving the cabinet the warmth and character we love in old English furniture.
Its compact proportions make it particularly versatile. It would work beautifully as a bedside cabinet, lamp table or small occasional table, with the secret compartment providing the perfect hiding place for jewellery, keepsakes, documents or those little treasures you simply want kept out of sight.
