Details
This is a very good example of a genuine antique English side cabinet in the manner of the famous 18th century French cabinetmaker Andre Boulle.
This cabinet is well proportioned and has an Ebonised finish plus has pronounced cantered corners which makes it more interesting and desirable than the standard rectangular box shape. The protruding top and the base are shaped to compliment the cabinet section. The cantered corners and the central door panel feature the typical brass and red tortoiseshell of Boulle furniture. The cabinet is further embellished with a profuse amount of applied cast embellishments in the Louis XV manner including individual castings like the cherubs and decorative line moldings. The cupboard has a single full width shelf within.
The cabinet has come to us with the original worn gilt finish now regilded and slightly aged.
We just need to detail and wax polish the woodwork which will be done.
Condition: Excellent for age only requiring slight detailing which will be done.
