Antique 19th century emerald green glazed Shiwan pottery Chinese tea/saucepot

16cm high x 18cm wide (with spout and handle ) x 9cm long. In very good condition with minor discoloration and wear consistent with age and use. Beautiful individually or as a set with other Shiwan pottery. 

These little green glazed tea/saucepot are typical of the ceramic glazed pottery made in the Shiwan kilns in Guangdong known as Shiwan ware, especially during the 18-19th century. Shiwan ware included all types of household wares such as vessels, cookware, teapots, chopstick holders and oil lamps. These saucepots are from  Melaka City, Malaysia. Melakan antiques are often of Chinese origin as the Malay of Chinese origin maintained connection to their own Chinese heritage through family heirlooms and general household feature pieces.
