Here we have a pair of romantic style 19th century transferware plates. These are one of ten different patterns belonging to the ‘Florentine China’ series, this pair being titled ‘Pearl’, that are attributed to Samuel Alcock & Co.
The scene is one of serenity, depicting a lady and child walking in the gardens of a beautiful villa. Samuel Alcock & Co was a leading pottery manufacturer is Burslem, Staffordshire, which operated between 1828 and 1859. Both plates are in good condition, with typical discolouration to portions of the ceramic.
