The tapered body of conical form, relief-decorated throughout with a characteristic 'crocodile' or 'lizard-skin' textured surface, surmounted by a flared spout and an elegant, sweeping tubular handle; with a deep, untouched chocolate-brown patina.

Condition: Good condition from vintage and careful handling. Untouched patina, with some oxidisation around the base and slight indentation to handle and body - it is not recommended you fill with water, this is best used with dry flowers or as a display/styling piece.
Marks:
The underside stamped with the manufacturer’s mark of a Neptune trident within a circular reserve, alongside the size numeral.
Cataloguing Note
The Neptune trademark was officially adopted by Joseph Sankey & Sons in the late 19th century to distinguish their high-quality "Art Metalwork" from the generic industrial wares produced in the Black Country. This specific reptilian texture, while industrially pressed, was designed to mimic the organic, avant-garde textures appearing in the London studios of the period. The presence of the trident mark confirms this as a premier output from the Bilston works during their most creatively successful decade.
