Later 1700s Georgian (George III) fold-over gate-leg tea and supper table, crafted in solid, heavy, well-figured Cuban mahogany. English.
The front presents a rarer serpentine form with a small drawer set into the front frieze; the sides are also gently serpentined. The top carries a rounded edge moulding. Legs are Sheraton in style—squared and tapered—with a fine line inlay to the lower edge of the apron (frieze) repeated on the legs.
The rear gate leg swings out to support the hinged top when folded over. When closed, the table works well as a side table or hall console.
Condition: Desirably untouched original. One leg requires minor attention, which will be professionally attended to.
