Early Victorian English bracket clock, circa 1840, with an eight-day triple fusee movement. The arched silver and brass dial is framed by raised gilt foliate spandrels. The chapter ring bears engraved Roman numerals, with three subsidiary dials for chime/silent, slow/fast regulation, and selection between Cambridge or Westminster chimes on eight bells.
The oak case is of architectural form, with a broken swan-neck pediment centred by a cast brass pineapple finial. Freestanding fluted Corinthian columns define the sides, complemented by stylised applied carved details. The case is finished in simulated hand-grained rosewood. The sides and rear door feature fabric-backed, saw-pierced fretwork panels.
Condition: Overall excellent and recently serviced. The fretwork panels require minor restoration; the seller notes this will be completed. Supplied with key and pendulum.
