About this piece
Late 17th-century Italian walnut cassettone, probably Lombardia, circa 1690. The cavetto-moulded rectangular walnut top sits above three drawers of equal size and design. The top drawer opens as a fall-front bureau, revealing an interior fitted with inlaid drawers. Each drawer front is panelled and fitted with a scrolling handle. The sides are constructed with a single large moulded-edged panel and conforming return mouldings. Rich colour and patina throughout.
